Chemistry Department "adopts" Houston middle school in wake of Hurricane Harvey
(September 19, 2017) A few weeks ago, Hurricane Harvey devastated the area in and around Houston, Texas. One of the communities affected was Pasadena, Texas, which was in the direct path of the storm and received 43 inches of rain. Prof. Amanda Morris' sister-in-law is an employee at Park View Intermediate School, a Title I, 7th and 8th grade middle school where a majority of the students are at-risk and low-income. Many of the students' families were devastated by the flooding of the community with some families losing everything. Through an effort by Kristen Felice and Prof. Morris, the Department of Chemistry is "adopting" Park View Intermediate School to help their students and their families recover from this disaster. If you would like to contribute, you can make a donation through Venmo to Prof. Amanda Morris (@ProfAJM-VTChem) or through cash or check. To help in other ways, including donations of clothing or personal hygiene items, contact Kristen Felice at firstname.lastname@example.org.
