(January 4, 2019) John Matson has been honored with a 2019 Thieme Chemistry Journals Award. The award is presented to promising young researchers in the early stages of their independent academic careers and serves to recognize and encourage the new generation of synthetic organic chemists. The awardees are selected exclusively by the editorial board members of Synthesis, Synlett, and Synfacts, and the award has been presented annually since 1999.

The interdisciplinary Matson Lab works to design and synthesize new small molecules, polymers and gels for various biological and medicinal applications.
