(April 5, 2019) Two former McGrath students, Abhishek Roy (MACRO Ph.D. ‘08) and Mike Hickner (ChemE Ph.D. ‘03), as part of a collaborative team between researchers from NIST, Pennsylvania State University, University of Florida, and Dow Chemical, have won the 2019 Cooperative Research Award in Applied Polymer Science for their work on improved materials for reverse osmosis (RO) desalination membranes. The team worked to deliver quantitative models to explain current performance limits and to guide future improvements of RO membrane materials, resulting in major breakthroughs in understanding water purification membranes. Congratulations to Dr. Roy, Dr. Hickner, and the whole team!
