(October 11, 2019) This week, two Department of Chemistry faculty members were recognized at the College of Science's Award Breakfast along with six other faculty and staff members from departments across the College.

Dr. Shamindri Arachchige, an advanced instructor of general chemistry, was awarded the College's Certificate of Teaching Excellence. Outside of teaching general chemistry to her 3,000 students each year, Shami also leads most of the department's outreach efforts, coordinating and participating in demos and K-12 visits both on and off campus.

Prof. Amanda Morris, an associate professor and the associate chair of the department, was awarded the Award for Outreach Excellence. Amanda's outreach efforts regularly reach wide audiences, from hosting grade school visits to her lab to serving as a liaison through the American Chemical Society's Experts Program.

Congratulations, Shami and Amanda!
