(March 23, 2021) Assistant professor Nicholas Mayhall was announced last month as a winner of the Sloan Research Fellowship, sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The 2021 cohort includes 128 early career researchers who have been recognized for their creativity, leadership and independent research achievements, according to the nonprofit.

Prof. Mayhall's research program focuses primarily on the development of novel quantum chemistry methods and the application of these methods to investigate the chemical foundations of renewable energy sources and quantum technologies, according to the group website.

The fellowship awards $75K over two years and provide funding for more computer equipment for larger simulations and student and postdoc travel.
