(July 12, 2021) Prof. Valerie Welborn’s newest paper in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics was selected for the cover of the July 7, 2021 issue. The artwork used was created by artist Ella Marushchenko and accompanies Welborn’s paper titled “Environment-controlled water adsorption at hydroxyapatite/collagen interfaces.”

According to the abstract, Welborn demonstrates that environmental factors play a key role in water adsorption of bone tissues. These findings offer insight into the molecular interactions of bone tissues and have implications on novel bone repair strategies.
