Lina Quan Joins Faculty
August 13, 2021
(August 13, 2021) Lina Quan, Ph.D. joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry as an assistant professor of analytical/inorganic chemistry in January 2021.
Lina earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea where she worked with Dong Ha Kim. During her Ph.D. she worked with Edward Sargent from the University of Toronto (2014-2016). After receiving her doctorate in 2016, she continued work as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto then at the University of California, Berkeley with Peidong Yang.
At Virginia Tech, Lina’s research focuses on the optical and electronic properties of emerging semiconductors such as perovskites for use in next-generation optoelectronic applications. Her group employ a number of cutting edge characterization techniques (ultrafast lasers, synchrotron x-ray) to study the photophysics of materials and devices with high spatial and temporal resolutions. The work will have applications in light harvesting, light emitting and other related optoelectronic devices.
In her free time, Lina enjoys gardening, hiking, snowboarding and spending time with her family.
